About

Who we are

Conviction turned into action.

Our Story

Break the Huddle Ministries was born on the field. What started as Morningside University football's mission trip program in 2011 grew into something bigger than any single team — a conviction that the men who've been given strength, discipline, and brotherhood are exactly the men called to stand in the gap for the fatherless.

We saw the crisis up close: kids without a steady man in their corner, and grown men with everything it takes to be that man — but no clear way to step in. Break the Huddle exists to close that gap. We mobilize athletes and men to serve, mentor, and lead — breaking generational cycles in their families, their communities, and around the world.

Since 2011, the mission-trip system that began at Morningside University has completed 24 mission trips — a proven legacy of men stepping up, serving others, and coming home changed.

Our Mission

Break the Huddle Ministries turns conviction into action — mobilizing athletes and men to serve, mentor, and lead the fatherless, breaking generational cycles in their families, their communities, and around the world.

Our Vision

A nation of athletes and men who don't watch from the sidelines — raising the next generation of fathers who serve, lead, and stand in the gap for the fatherless.

Our Values

01

Faith in Action

Faith is our backbone. We don't just believe — we move. We serve because Christ first served us.

02

Deliberate Service

Showing up on purpose, consistently, where it's needed most. Not a moment — a commitment.

03

Brotherhood Forged

Iron sharpens iron. We build men together, and we don't do this alone.

Steve Ryan is the Head Football Coach at Morningside University, now in his third decade leading the Mustangs. He has built one of the most successful programs in the country — three national championships, an NAIA Hall of Fame induction, and 27 Coach of the Year awards. But his deepest work has been building men — leading athletes to serve both in their communities and around the world, and raising up the kind of men who don't watch from the sidelines.

Caleb Schweigart

Vice President & Co-Founder

Caleb Schweigart is a devoted man of Christ, shaped by his years in the Morningside football program. Four Morningside mission trips became the turning point of his life — the ground where he found his faith in Jesus Christ. Today he lives in Omaha, Nebraska, where he has spent the past two and a half years as an alternative school teacher, seeing the impact of lost men and broken homes firsthand. That daily reality is what drives his conviction to break the cycle.

The fatherless become the fathers.
